High Risk Domestic Violence
Domestic violence may sound risky, and it is, but there are cases we consider to be “high risk.” When someone from domestic violence services talks about high risk, we are talking about those cases that are much more likely to end in murder.
If you don’t spend a lot of time with the topic, you might think that all cases are risky or think that considering the possibility of murder is dramatic. Neither extreme is helpful. It is good to understand which cases are high risk. Using the CAADA DASH Risk assessment, you can ask the victim a series of questions to measure the risk.
However, just asking the questions without understanding domestic violence can be unhelpful or even dangerous. If you are likely to encounter victims of domestic abuse, which is the case for everyone who works with customers, look into an awareness course.
